Welcome to our Blogastery

No, of course we’re not monks.  But we are a group of friends joined by a love of good beer, good food, and good music.  We all met as students at the DePaul University School of Music some years back; since then, we’ve enjoyed each others’ company sampling beer around tables at places like Goose Island, Revolution Brewing, and Hopleaf; in front of the TV for Twins and White Sox games; preparing at least semi-haute cuisine; listening to Shostakovich and Messiaen; and brewing our own beer.

In the last year we’ve spread out a bit from Chicago, but we still share our adventures in all things musical, culinary, and zymurgical.  This blog will catalogue our experiences and musings on commercial and homebrewed beer, food that we’ve tasted elsewhere or made ourselves, music we love or love to make, and other related areas of interest.  Our references of tone and nomenclature to monastic life is inspired by our love of the beers produced by the Trappist breweries, all but one of which that still exist today are located in Belgium.  While it’s a way for us to stay connected, maybe others who come across this site will enjoy what they find here.  If that’s you, feel free to let us know what you think, and to bring other tangential information to our attention.

Op uw gezondheid!
